Scene 1
Zoom out:
Int. – THE BROTHERS’ HOUSE – MORNING
The camera zooms out from a whiskey bottle to show Dave in the living room arguing with his Dad.
Dave
I can’t believe you forgot Garry’s Birthday again!
Camera changes to close up looking up towards the Dads Face as he slurs whilst trying to shout
Dad
Don’t you talk to me like that! I put the food on the table!
Camera switches to a close up of Dave’s face
Dave
No you don’t dad your nothing! You’re a worthless alcoholic living on the dole!
Camera moves to a wide shot as the Dad fills with rage he dashes towards Dave and throws him to the floor and starts hitting him.
Garry runs into the room.
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED:
Garry
Stop Dad! Stop! I don’t care that you missed my birthday
At this the Dad flips out and turns his attention to Garry. The Dad picks up a knife. Tears start to form in Garry’s eyes.
Garry
Please….dad…please…don’t!
Meanwhile Dave has got up grabbed a pan and hits his dad with it.
Camera shows close up of Dave and Garry’s faces.
Dave
Come on Garry we have to get out of here!
Garry’s sobbing
Garry
Where..will..we..go?
Dave
I’m not too sure but anywhere is better than here.
Dave and Garry exit shot
Camera dips to black.

Scene 2
PAN :
EXT. NOTTINGHAM - GRAVEYARD - MORNING
At their mothers’ tombstone, Dave has his arm around Garry.
The sun is out
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED:
The camera slowly pans in the whole grave yard to where Dave and Garry are standing, so you see the back of the grave that they are standing at and their top half of their body
Garry
I wish mum was still alive
Dave
Me too, but you know I will always be there for you
Garry whimpering
Dave
Come on Garry it won’t always be this bad I promise it will get better
Garry
When? You always say it will get better but when!?
Dave
Soon, I have a good feeling
Camera zooms out.

Scene 3
ZOOM IN:
EXT. NOTTINGHAM - PLAYGROUND - Afternoon
The boys are sitting next to each other on two swings
The sun is out the birds are singing
The camera is facing them both sitting on the swings
Garry
So what are we going to do?

Dave
I guess we have to try and get some money together somehow
Camera fades out.
Show a variety of quick shots of the two boys begging on the street and practicing to pick pocket.
Fast exhilarating music

Scene 4
Fade in:
EXT. NOTTINGHAM – STREETS – AFTERNOON
The boys are walking along the street and Dave see a man putting his wallet in his coat pocket.
The camera is following the boys
Dave
Garry you see the guy with the black coat on?
Garry
Yeah
Dave
That’s our mark, you know what to do
The two boys move apart as Garry approaches the Mark
The camera cuts to Garry and the Gentleman talking
Garry
Excuse me sir
Gentleman
Yes how can I help?
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED:
Garry
Do you know what the time is?
The camera zooms out to show that Dave has caught up to where Garry is and as the Gentleman looks at his watch Dave takes his wallet out of his coat pocket.
Gentleman
It is five past four
Garry
Thank you
Garry walks of looks over his shoulder to check the guy has walked on and then runs over to Dave.
Garry
What’s in it?!
Dave gets the wallet out of his pocket and opens the note section
Dave
There’s at least 100 quid in here!!
Garry
Let’s go to the shop!
Dave
I told you things would get better.
Camera pans out
(Scene 4 Ends)
Scene 5
Cut:
INT. NOTTINGHAM – SHOP – AFTERNOON
The boys enter the shop and browse around
The radio is on in the background when the boys hear the lotto is up to 4 million
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED:
The camera can see the door and the cashier.
Dave
Did you hear that?!
Garry
Hear what?
Dave
The lotto is at a 4mill jackpot! Let me get you a lucky dip for your birthday!
Garry
Can I get some sweets?
Dave
Ye go for it
They pick up some bread milk ham cheese and sweets and go to the counter.
The camera cuts to showing them at the cash register.
They put the items on the side
Shop Keeper
Is that all?
Dave
No, can I have a lucky dip on the lotto for tonight?
Shop Keeper
No problem that is 7 pounds 12 pence please
They hand her a 10 pound note and she gives them the change.
The camera fades out as they leave the shop
(Scene 5 Ends)
Scene 6
Fade in:
EXT. NOTTINGHAM – STREET – EVENING
The boys are sitting on the street with their jackets over them as blankets.
The camera fades into a wide shot of where they are sitting.
Garry
Do you think we might win the lotto?
Dave
Yes I think we might just do, it’s about time things start going our way.
Garry
Ye me too, I really miss mum.
Garry starts sobbing
Garry
If she was here she would know what to do
Dave
Ye she would, she always did. I’m sorry I brought you with me but I really promise I will make this work.
Garry
No don’t be stupid, id much rather be with you than on my own back there.
Dave smiles at him
Camera dips to black
(Scene 6 Ends)
Scene 7
Fade in:
EXT. NOTTINGHAM – STREET – MORNING
The boys are sitting on the street as when they had gone to sleep, Dave wakes up and nudges Garry.
Dave
Wake up, wake up!
Garry moves slightly and opens an eye
Dave
Get up we can go check if we won anything!
Dave gets up and helps Garry get up then they run off
(Scene 7 Ends)
Scene 8
Cut:
EXT. NOTTINGHAM – SHOP – MORNING
The boys burst into the shop which causes the shop keeper to jump around.
The camera shows the door and the counter
As the boys approach the counter the camera changes to a closer shot of just the counter
Dave
Hi, can you check our ticket?
Dave hands over the lotto ticket. The shop keeper looks up the number and before she answers a large smile appears on her face.
Shop Keeper
You have won a million!
The boy’s faces light up as they look each other with a gob smacked stare. The shop keeper hands the tickets back to them
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED:
Shop Keeper
You have to send off to claim the money thou.
Dave
Thanks!
The boys run off
The camera fades out

Scene 9
Fade in:
INT. NOTTINGHAM – HOUSE – DAY
The boys are sitting at the end of a bed playing an xbox on a 42” LCD with a computer in the background.
The camera shows the whole room.
Dave pauses the xbox and turns to Garry.
Dave
I told you it would all work out one day.
Garry turns to face Dave.
Garry
Yeah…
Garry looks around the room.
Garry
I guess you were right.
